Apparaticus
Roberts played Virgil, a morally compromised prison-industry functionary, in “Apparaticus,” a Theatre Y film directed by Michael Montenegro. “Apparaticus,” loosely based on Kafka’s “The Penal Colony,” imagines the horror of solitary confinement in prison and the profit motive behind it. “Apparaticus” premiered at Facets in 2023, followed by a panel discussion with former Illinois Prisoner Review Board members Lisa D. Daniels and Max Cerda, and prison reform activist Celia Colon.
